ITANAGAR, Jun 16: Two Fide Arbiters from Arunachal Pradesh, Taba Anam and Tapi Shah have been selected to officiate in the 44th Chess Olympiad to be held at Chennai. This list is mostly reusing the selection made in 2020 for the aborted Olympiad in Moscow, when the ‘call of interest’ collected answers from 526 Arbiters from 136 federations and feedback from 101 federations, out of which 112 foreign match arbiters were selected.
The Chess Olympiad is the biggest international chess event in the world hosted by the federation of a country under the aegis of World Chess Federation (FIDE). It is for the first time being hosted in Chennai by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu. It is expected that more than 200 countries are going to participate in the event.
The All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (AAPCA) has appreciated the AICF for selecting the two FAs from the state.
