Itanagar, Jan 29: In a significant breakthrough under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Papu Hills Police(Naharlagun) arrested two suspected interstate drug peddlers and seized approximately 7 grams of suspected heroin during a raid at Borum, Papu Nallah, on January 28 last.
Acting on a credible tip-off, a team led by Inspector T. Mai, Officer-in-Charge of Papu Hills Police Station, along with Inspector G. Basar, Sub-Inspector P.K. Riram, and Constable P. Saikia, apprehended the suspects, identified as Diluar Hussain (35) and Aminur Ali (19), both hailing from Assam. The duo were allegedly attempting to sell narcotics in the Itanagar Capital Region.
During the operation, five vials of suspected heroin were recovered from their possession. The search and seizure were conducted in the presence of Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Papu Hills Police Station, and further investigations are underway to uncover potential links to larger drug networks.
Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police (SP) Naharlagun, commended the police team for their swift and efficient action. He reiterated the police department’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
The Naharlagun Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb the menace of drug trafficking.
