CHANGLANG, Mar 24: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Changlang Police successfully apprehended two individuals with suspected narcotics during a routine operation under Operation Dawn on Monday.
Acting on credible intelligence, police intercepted a Mahindra Bolero (AR-12-4546) entering from Margherita, Assam, near the Assam Rifles checkpoint. A thorough search of the vehicle, conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, led to the discovery of approximately 12.2 grams of suspected powder drugs hidden in a concealed compartment.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Homnong Ngemu (28) and Rapsam Ngemu (35). Along with the narcotics, police also seized two mobile phones and Aadhaar cards for further investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the operation was carried out in full compliance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and both accused are now in police custody as investigations continue, stated a release.
