PASIGHAT, Jul 12: The East Siang Police has arrested a man, 45, for raping a minor girl. The incident took place at Ngopok village under Mebo Sub-Division on Tuesday morning when the girl, 7, was watching TV at home while her parents were working in the family’s paddy field.

After the victim narrated the incident, her father lodged an FIR at Pasighat PS vide Case No. 134/18 376 IPC R/W Sec 4/6 of POCSO Act on Wednesday after which the alleged accused one Bukyang Yirang was arrested from Ngopok village.

Meanwhile, during counselling, the victim has revealed the name of another man who has also been raping her following which a suo-moto case was been registered against one Getem Ratan, 22, who was also arrested today vide Pasighat PS Case No.134/18 376(2) (s)(i)(n) IPC R/W Sec 4/6 of POCSO Act, informed Officer In-charge Pasighat PS, Inspector Atan Taki.

The family of the girl and women groups have appealed for exemplary punishment against the alleged accused.
