BANDERDEWA, Jan 27: In a significant breakthrough under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Banderdewa Police Team arrested two individuals in possession of suspected heroin during a routine check at the Banderdewa Check Gate. The operation was led by SI Dekey Tayum, SI Koj Tada, and HC Tade Bomdom, under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo.
During the search, the officers recovered seven vials containing 9.46 grams of suspected heroin, which were seized in the presence of independent witnesses. The police immediately registered case under NDPS Act, and the suspects were taken into custody.
The accused, identified as Prakash Charabarty, a resident of Dongibil Village in Lakhimpur District, and Takam Golo, from Itanagar in Papumpare District, are now under investigation.
This operation follows a series of successful drug busts in the region. Just a day earlier, police in Naharlagun and Nirjuli apprehended four suspected drug peddlers, including a husband-wife duo, with contraband drugs.
SP Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, reiterated the police's unwavering commitment to combating drug-related crimes. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community as part of the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0 initiative.
