ZIRO, Dec 5: Last edition's runners up, West Siang scored in the dying minutes of the match to secure three points against Papum Pare and became the first team in the competition to qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing 19th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament. The winning goal for West Siang came in the 95th minute scored by Momik Ada. The match between Tawang and Papum Pare the day after will decide who will become the other team to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group C.
Host Lower Subansiri came back strong overcoming its previous defeat in the tournament and registered a 3-0 win against Shi--Yomi in their second match of Group A played today at Padi Yubbey Football Stadium, Hapoli.All goals came in the second half. Taug Sera scored a brace for the winners in the 51 and 78 minutes while Kon Tolu also contributed a goal for his side in the 85th minute.
Second match on the same ground was played between Upper Subansiri and defending champion Kurung Kumey of Group B in which the defending champions emerged victorious by 2-0. A goal each by Tamchi Tassung and Tarh Dolu in the 36th and 50th minutes were enough to collect all 3 points for Kurung Kumey to remain in contention for knockout stages.
In the first match played at Hija HSS, Ziro, a rejuvenated East Kameng registered a thumping victory against Namsai by defeating the latter 5-0 in their Group B match. Karan Tallang of East Kameng became the first player to score a hatrick in the current edition of the tournament. He scored in the 14th, 30th and 81st minute of the match. Two more goals for East Kameng were scored by Karling Paffa (45') and June Dodum (79').
