ROING, Aug 22: The education department of Lower Dibang Valley, as part of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, organised tree plantation and interaction sessions in various schools of Roing. 
Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom who attended the programme at Government Secondary School,Jia advised the students to concentrate in their studies for better future prospects and emphasised on developing reading habits to improve their language, reading skills and to gain knowledge outside textbooks. She also instructed the teachers to focus on teaching and all round development of the students.
The Jal Shakti Abhiyan is focused on promoting rain water harvesting structures, rejuvenation of water bodies, intensive afforestation and re use of waste water. In the district, 440 trees have been planted and processions, painting and essay writing competitions have been organised in the first phase. The second phase of planting 500 trees is underway.
