PASIGHAT, Aug 30: The two day general conference cum election/selection of All Arunachal Pradesh Transport Federation (AAPPTF) East Siang Unit started today at 2 Mile, Gumin Nagar following an inaugural function of tour & travel counter cum parking lot in which AAPPTF state President Dobing Sonam and District Transport Officer, East Siang, Marik Loyi attended as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking at the sidelines, DTO (Transport), Marik Loyi appealed all the members of the union to follow traffic rules besides abiding by basic guidelines of the state government. “This is the time to remind you all about your responsibilities toward the public and society as safety of passengers are in your hands, especially the commercial vehicles like Tata Sumo, Winger, Tata Mobile etc. The drivers should avoid consuming alcohol and also avoid talking on phone while driving as there are reports of several accidents due to negligence of drivers”, he added.
While committing for the larger welfare of all members of the AAPPTF, state President, Dobing Sonam asked members to be sincere and dedicated for the welfare of the common people. “A slight negligence and greed of drivers of commercial vehicles like Tata Sumo, Winger etc can cause loss of many innocent lives. For earning extra of Rs. 10, our drivers are often seen compromising with the safety of passengers, such practices has to be stopped”, he cautioned.
The election/selection procedure of the AAPPTF East Siang Unit for 2019-24 will be done under the Chief Election Commissioner, Shoney Pertin and the results will be declared on Saturday with swearing-in ceremony of new executive members.
