NAHARLAGUN, Mar 22:  The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) led by its president Dobing Sonam in a representation submitted to chief secretary Shakuntala Gamlin has appealed the latter to immediately shift the SMS factory located at Lekhi Village here.

While stating that the factory has been causing serious air pollution which is a threat to human life, the federation in its letter added that as per the latest inspection of the factory diseases like Cancer, Tuberculosis etc have seen a rise of 45 percent in and around the area as the factory emits carbon-dioxide, carbon monoxide and particulate pollutants containing heavy metals which are hazardous for any living beings.

It has been more than 3 years since the demise of one late Toko Henri of Leki Village who died because of inhaling the polluted air, but till date nothing has been done by the authority concerned to close or shift the said factory, the letter read.

AAPPTF has further threatened of a democratic movement if its demand is not looked into at the earliest.
