Balek, Jul 26: A training and demonstration programme on women-friendly tools and machines was organized by the All India Coordinated Research project (AICRP) on Ergonomics and safety in Agriculture (ESA) operative in the Department of Agriculture, NERIST in collaboration with KVK, Balek, Lower Dibang Valley on Wednesday. 
The programme was chaired by Prof. K. N Dewangan, PI and Head, Dept. of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Deepanjali Deori, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Balek and L. Saring, Block President, Kishan Morcha.  A total of 35 farmers attended the programme.  
The main theme of the event was to show various improved technologies as well as women-friendly tools and equipment to the farmers to enhance their income and develop linkage among farmers and education/research Institutes. Prof. K. N. Dewangan, highlighted the importance of adoption of appropriate technology with proper knowledge.
After the programme, there was an open interaction to know the problem associated while growing crops so that a suitable tool or machine can be developed to overcome the drudgery associated with the crops.
Demonstration of tools and machines was carried out in the farm of a progressive farmer.
