KHONSA, Jul 26: The District Health Society, Khonsa along with the Tirap District Administration conducted an investigation cum awareness program on acute conjunctivitis at Rama Krishna Sarada Mission Girls’ School, Khonsa today.
Deputy Commissioner Hento Karga advised all students & teaching staff to maintain hygiene to mitigate the spread of infection. He said that closing down of schools will not be a solution because it will affect academics rather each and everyone should try individually to break the chain of infection by maintaining social distance and hygiene. DMO Tirap Dr. N. Lowang highlighted on how Conjunctivitis spreads and ways to prevent it.
District Surveillance Officer Dr.P.Rakshit, informed that this viral infection typically resolves on its own within a week or two and he also spoke about the symptomatic treatment as there is no particular medicine for viruses.
