KHONSA, Jun 16: With the objective of  improving the Covid vaccination coverage in Bari Basip Circle in Tirap district, a joint coordination meeting involving the District Administration, 55 Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, health workers, WCD, panchayat leaders, CBOs  and other stakeholders was convened today at Circle Hqs Katang. 
The MLA appealed to the eligible beneficiaries of the Circle to avail the free Covishield vaccine from the nearest health centre without hesitation. CO Bari Basip Nekong Perme informed that a micro planning committee has been formed for every segment under the twin Blocks of Lamsa-Katang and Khela-Bunting to ensure a full vaccination coverage. The CO stressed on the necessity of generating public awareness on the false and fake messages circulating on social media which is encouraging reluctance among people to get vaccinated. CDPO N. Matey urged the Anganwadi workers to conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns about the importance of vaccination.
Medical Superintendent, GH Khonsa Dr. K. Socia reiterated that Covishield vaccine is safe and has no side effects, adding that till date no report of side effects has been observed in the district. DIPRO
