NAHARLAGUN, Aug 17: Capital Police while pursuing a bike theft case has managed to solve an abduction case simultaneously with the accused in both turning out to be the same person.
On Aug 12  an FIR(Naharlagun PS case no.138/19 U/s 381 IPC) was received from one Likha Tara of E Sector Naharlagun  with the complaint that on July 23 his son’s  motorcycle was stolen by an unknown miscreant while they were out of town. The FIR also mentioned that on the same day his driver, Sunit Sagar had gone missing. Pursuing the case and subsequently acting on a tip-off, Capital Police managed to arrest the suspected driver from D Sector Itanagar on the night of August 14 along with a Bodo girl. After interrogation, Sunit disclosed that he had stolen the motorcycle to pick up his girlfriend from Hollongi, Assam and hidden the vehicle  somewhere at Ganga in the capital. From there, he hired a  car and picked the girl aged 22 years from Hollongi. It was also learnt that the girl accompanying Sunit  is the one who had allegedly been abducted by  Sunit and an abduction case(PS case no. 295/19 u/s 366 IPC) was already registered in this regard by the girl’s relatives at Gohpur Police Station.
On being led and shown by the accused, the stolen motorcycle was finally recovered by police and the abducted girl has been handed over to Gohpur Police in presence of her parents on Friday after clearing all legal formalities.Newsdesk
