ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The Multimedia Campaign (MMC) on HIV/AIDS that was launched on 18th November 2022 from the Aspirational district of Arunachal Pradesh, Namsai, culminated in the Grand Finale at Itanagar on December 21 last.
The Grand Finale event was graced by deputy commissioner ICR Talo Potom, as the Chief Guest and Dr. M. Lego, Director of Health Services and Dr. Emi Rumi, Director Family Welfare as the Special Invitees at Mopin Solung Ground, Itanagar.
Speaking on the occasion Dy. Commisioner, Talo Potom, appreciated the efforts of the Health Department to reach out to the targeted audience through MMC. He said that the right approach only can help in creating an effective awareness among the youth.
Director of Health Services, commending MMC said "we all are living in a very competitive time which creates stress and tension." Through music, the youth should relieve such stress and tension and at the same time create awareness about challenging issues like HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and mental health, he added.
Director of Family Welfare, Dr. E. Rumi, said that the APSACS logo itself sent out a clear and loud message which read ‘Health is Precious. Let’s Care’. Health needs special attention to achieve success in life, he said. Project Director of APSACS, Dr. Riken Rina, while highlighting the aims and objectives of MMC said that National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) through the State AIDS Control Society is undertaking a multi - media campaign in the North-eastern region of the country for youth between the age group of 15-29 years. The multi-media campaign aims to capitalise on the popularity of local entertainment avenues among the youth like music concerts and sports.

Dy. Director IEC APSACS Tashor Pali, said that the youth are involved through MMC to enhance risk perception and promote safe behaviour, address issues around stigma and discrimination against people infected and affected with HIV and AIDS, motivate different population groups to seek services (ICTC, PPTCT, ART, STI and Care & Support services).
The Grand Finale witnessed the battle of bands among four participating bands namely The Mishmi Hills from Roing, Hey Devi from Itanagar, Triumph on Melancholy from Itanagar and Soulsides from Tezu.
Soulside from Tezu emerged as the winner, and will be representing Arunachal Pradesh at Gangtok in the Regional Level Competition to be held in the month of February next year.
Dormant, the winner of last year’s MMC Grand Finale participated as the Headliner while Sacred Secrecy enthralled the audience as the Guest Band.
The Finale also featured Sacred Secrecy as the Guest Band with celebrity drummer Toko Teji along with Tana Doni and Tenzing Musobi jamming with guitars.
The MMC which is based on Rock Music Competition among the local bands of the state witnessed participation from many young and talented bands in its campaign in the last two months. For MMC, the state has been divided into two zones viz; Competition for the Eastern Zone was held at Namsai on November 18 last and for the Western zone the competition was conducted at Bhalukpong on November 25 last. The top two from each zone were selected for the Grand Finale.
