GUWAHATI, Jul 14: As a part of their day-long study visit to Guwahati Municipal Corporation(GMC), members from Itanagar Municipal Corporation(IMC) led by Mayor Tame Phassang today attended the meeting at the conference hall of GMC here at Uzanbazar and also visited various project sites to get first-hand information.
During the meeting, officials from Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elaborated on the functioning of GMC, office structure, revenue sources, property Tax implementation and others. The official also briefed the members about the jurisdiction and demarcation between Municipal Corporation and District Collector/Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police/ Superintendent of police.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor expressed his gratitude to the official of the GMC for successfully coordinating the meeting and sharing information on the developmental structures of the GMC. “I believe that today’s meeting will be fruitful for our members. IMC is still new and we have to learn many more things so that we can confer the best service to the people of our state," stated the Mayor.
Meanwhile, a team of IMC along with the official from GMC also visited abbatoir, parking lots and other project sites.
Besides officials and corporators from IMC, Commissioner GMC- Devashish Sharma, Pranjit Sharma Assistant Residence Commissioner Arunachal Bhawan Guwahati, and Dilip Kumar Chutia Dy Residence Commissioner also attended the meeting.
