Itanagar, Mar 24: The Arunachal Pradesh Rafting team, which participated in the four-day long 17th National Rafting Championship held here at Sutlej river in Himachal Pradesh, powered their way to the podium securing the bronze medals for the state in all the three categories held here during the championship, which concluded today.
In a courageous display of power and team spirit, the team led by Captain Tobang Perme, Vice-Captain Nobang Tayeng, and members Kaleven Tayeng, Bijonto Pertin, Bani Darin and Geli Ete along with Team Manager Dhritiman Hazarika, clenched bronze medals in all the categories—Down River Race, Slalom Race and RX Sprint.
This event was organised by the Indian Rafting Foundation (TIRF) under the aegis of World Rafting Federation (WRF). The championship was inaugurated by Gunbir Singh as member of the advisory board of the Indian Rafting Federation (TIRF) and chairman Punjab World Wide Fund for Nature-India.
The championships included sporting categories for women, men and mixed teams as well and are governed by rules and regulations of WRF- World Rafting Federation.
In a telephonic conversation, Arunachal Pradesh Water Sports Association’s (APWSA) President Mr. Nino Dai expressed his heartfelt delight and pride for the team, lauding their hard work and team coordination. This achievement marks the dawn in the rise of team Arunachal in water sports events, he added.  
Meanwhile, Atu Kartek, the Secretary General of the Arunachal Pradesh Water Sports Association (APWSA), also took pride in the outstanding performance of the team and wished them many more achievements in the near future. The team scheduled to return to Itanagar on 27th March, next.
