PASIGHAT, Aug 22: The Women Police Station (WPS), Pasighat, arrested a teacher from a reputed school here at Pasighat on August 19, for physically assaulting a minor boarder of the school, but the teacher was granted bail the same day as the offence was bailable, police said today.
The arrest of the teacher named Jiten Kumar Tanti was made after the police registered a case against him following a written complaint from the parent alleging that his child, a boarder at the said school, was physically assaulted by the teacher.
As per the press release from the police, the child was immediately referred to the Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat for medical examination and treatment. The accused teacher was arrested by police. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was also informed for necessary counselling of the victim.
A case (WPS 18/25) has been registered under Sections 115(2) and 126(2) of the BNS read with Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act and investigation is going on. However, the alleged teacher has been granted bail on the same day as the offence was bailable. As per police sources, the initial medical report showed no indications of sexual assault; it was a physical injury.
However, East Siang District police led by Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Lamba has assured strict legal action in the case and reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of the children. East Siang Police has also appealed to all parents and guardians to promptly report any such incidents to the nearest police station.
