- Update on missing mountaineer Tapi Mra -

 

ITANAGAR, Oct 10: The Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) has expressed dismay over the reversal of documents by the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner to Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports for approval of no objection certificate (NOC) citing that two persons are not experienced in mountaineering in the team which has set out on search operation of missing mountaineers Tapi Mra and his assistant Niku Dao.
The TCS terming the move 'illogical' said it is causing 'loss of time'.
Earlier a team of six mountaineers announced to embark on a search and rescue operation for the missing duo. The team is led by mountaineer Tagit Sorang and accompanied by Taru Hai, Tadi Mra, Nachung Rava, Tanyang Bate and Tana Lui. An indemnity bond has been signed by the team members in presence of  magistrate and in case of an eventuality during the search operation, it will solely be their (mountaineers) own responsibility. 
The Tagin Cultural Society (TCS), met the Chief Secretary on 23rd September who requisitioned Helicopter to drop the team to Base Camp Mount Kyarisatam (Chiumo) for second attempt of the search operation. 
 As per the decision taken by the Chief Minister during the meeting and as sought by the Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng District to execute and produce Indemnity Bond of the search team members, the same was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and all concerned as well. But, it is dismaying to know that the Deputy Commissioner has reversed the documents to Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports for approval of NOC citing two person are not experienced in mountaineering,  stated a press statement issued by the missing mountaineer's sister Yatok Mra Nolo.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner had imposed CrPC 144 restricting any kind of trekking expedition in Lada, Khenewa, and Sewa Circles towards high altitude location which was later revoked on September 4 last. Imposing of 144 CrPC was one the major hindrances for foot-based search operation otherwise search operation could have seen result today, the TCS said.
The TCS further informed that the search team led by everester Tagit Sorang with four persons left Itanagar for Veo Village via Sella on September 6 and reached Saria Village the next day one on foot-march. Nine porters joined the team from Saria Village on same day taking it to total 13 members.
The team has reached Yarchum, the confluence point of Kameng and Wapriang-Bu river. According to information over satellite phone today, the foot-based search operation is facing logistics shortage, it said.
