TAWANG, Aug 6: The Education Department Tawang held a programme on the observation of Pakke Declaration 2047 and its five main theme 'Paanch Dhara' on Saturday here at the Government Higher Secondary School.
Speaking on the occassion Incharge Deputy Commissioner, Rinchin Leta  said that the Pakke Declaration 2047 aims to make the country carbon emission free and this can become possible through collective effort. 
Global warming is manmade and we can minimise the greenhouse effect by making small changes in our lifestyle, he said.
DMO Tawang Dr.Rinchin Neema as resource person spoke on climate change and its  impact on health and well being. He said every year 8 lakh people die because of climate change and vector borne diseases are increasing. Citing example, he said, "Tawang didn't have cases of malaria some ten years back, but nowadays mosquitoes are found. We need to educate regarding protection of environment, under developed and developing countries are more vulnerable to climate change problems." 
DFO,Tawang Piyush Gaikwad in his speech said "The huge rainfall occuring in the hills of Arunachal are captured by trees, if these trees are not preserved this will cause landslides and flood. Forest fire is highest in Arunachal Pradesh and it's still rising,this cannot be stopped without community involvement."
Speaking on drug menace, he said that people are not aware of its ill effects. There is lack of social support, peer pressure and easy drug trafficking in the hill state can be minimised only through awareness, he added.
DDSE Tawang Hridhar Phuntso, Secretary General TMES Kesang Norbu, PRI leader Tenzin Monpa and District Students'union president Sang Dhondup also spoke on the occassion.
