TAWANG, Sep 6: The members of district task force committee on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Tawang, Kanki Darang met this afternoon to prepare and approve the district action plan for the year 2023-24.
In his welcome address CDPO Jang, Gyati Loder informed the house that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was launched on 22nd January 2015 to address the decline in child sex ratio in the country along with related issues of empowerment of girls and women. Speaking on the aims of the scheme, he informed that it aims in improving the sex ratio at birth, improvement in the percentage of institutional deliveries, to check dropout rate among girls etc.
This was followed by presentation of proposals by CDPO, Tawang. She informed the house about the implementing departments, annual calendar & activities prescribed under the scheme as per the guidelines. DDSE,DMO and DDI Tawang, also presented proposals which were then approved by the district task force committee.
In his brief remark, DC cum Chairman DTFC BBBP Tawang, Kanki Darang lauded the exposure tours for girls by Skill Development department to different parts of the country. He said "this would give our daughters the opportunity to know more about the country." He also advocated for skill upgradation and skill development training to girls for self dependence, which he opined would make them more empowered.
