TAWANG, Jul 10: The Tawang district administration today held a preliminary meeting on the proposed visit of the 14th Dalai Lama to Tawang.
The meeting was attended by MLA Tsering Tashi, ZPC Leki Gombu,Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang, religious heads of monasteries and nunneries, PRI leaders and officials.
The DC in his address said that the meeting is being held to discuss about the ground work preparations and sought cooperation from all to make the visit successful.
MLA Tashi informed that the Dalai Lama has consented to visit Tawang, adding "however weather condition of Tawang is a major factor in making the visit successful."
The meeting looked to finalize a tentative programme which will be further sent to the government for consideration and to be pursued with the office of the Dalai Lama.
During the open discussion seeking suggestions and opinions from members present, it was suggested for forming of a state level reception committee,and other matters related to the proposed visit.
A committee was also formed to inspect the places of visit by the Dalai Lama on his proposed visit.
