ITANAGAR, Nov 1: The family members of Everester Tapi Mra and his aid Niku Dao began their sit-in protest at Tennis Court,Itanagar on Tuesday after the state government failed to respond to their demands.
Speaking to the media,Yatok Mra Nilo, sister of Tapi Mra while expressing resentment over the state government's attitude, called the missing of Tapi Mra as a "direct or indirect murder" by the concerned department. "In 2021 expedition order, there was proper dateline about his movement and return but this time there is nothing about such dateline. Such unconvinced order forced us to believe that there must be some conspiracy on his missing," she alleged.
She also informed that for the last three months, the Department’s authority hasn't visited the family members nor inquired about the Search & Rescue operation. Even the concerned Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs hasn't visited the family members, Yatok said.
Surprisingly, the authority even didn’t visit to see the belongings of both the missing mountaineers which was recovered by the private Search & Rescue team, she added.
"We appeal the government to bring back both Tapi Mra and Niku Dao dead or alive, immediately set up a high-level inquiry on the whole missing episode, action against DC East Kameng and detail report about the status of Tapi Mra as well as Niku Dao."
Meanwhile, President Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) Larji Rigia also demanded a High-Level Enquiry Committee on the missing incident and suspension of DC East Kameng till the inquiry reports are completed. President also urged the state government to have a detailed discussion with the Chinese counterpart, as the TCS has an apprehension that the PLA might have abducted both mountaineers.
