ZIRO, Jun 6: The Department of Urban Development and Housing, Ziro Division conducted an awareness program on the theme “Segregation of waste under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)” today at Hapoli commemorating World Environment Day celebrations.
Attending the programme as the chief guest, Parliamentary Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Er. Tage Taki said that cleanliness is a way of life, which cannot be imposed upon and has to be voluntarily developed and religiously practiced.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political will to create a clean environment, which should be wholeheartedly supported by all of us, he said.
“The largest chunk of garbage is generated by the shopkeepers, vegetable vendors and the trading community. I am open to all suggestions and willing to take your cause of garbage management system with the higher authorities,” Taki added and exhorted the Bazaar Welfare Community to chalk out strategies in collaboration with the UD department to deal with the garbage mess.
Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen, Mihin Dolyang, Chairman Hapoli Bazaar Welfare Committee and Nido Tama, Ambassador for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan also spoke on the occasion.
Later Er. Tage Taki, handed over pamphlets on waste segregation to the secretaries of the colonies. A march to Clean Ziro, Green Ziro was also organized.
