ITANAGAR, Nov 6: Rupa Bayor, the first Indian female athlete to win any medal at a G2 event of World Taekwondo (WT), on Sunday expressed resentment over being denied to participate in the upcoming Northeast Olympic Games 2022 by the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA).
Addressing media person here at Arunachal Press Club (APC), Bayor said that she was denied by the ATA to participate in the upcoming 2nd edition of Northeast Olympics Games 2022 without any valid reason.  
"The Association has refused my selection in the same event, whereas during the selection trial held on 23 September last, I  had won a gold medal," claimed Bayor while revealing that the association has "selected the player whom she defeated in the selection trail and who didn’t manage to win a single medal."
She added that players should be selected on the basis of their performance not going by their attendance who attended the training camp, Bayor said.  “On 20th October, ATA had asked me to attend the two week camp, whereas I was already going through online training at Mumbai for the upcoming Asian and International games for the last one and half years,” asserted  Bayor.  She also added that, even through telephonic communication she had requested to excuse her  from the coaching camp, but the association denied the request.
She appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to intervene and take action against the ATA.
