NAHARLAGUN, Mar 17: Young innovator of Arunachal Pradesh, Anang Tadar has received the National Grassroots Innovator Award from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship 2019 at NIF complex, Grambharati, Amrabati, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat on Tuesday.
The award was given for his innovation “Smart Goggle for Blind” for which he had already won several state, national and other awards from various organisations in state and at national level in last two years.Visiting several parts of state, country and abroad Anang had demonstrated and displayed his innovation.
Anang informed that the festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship 2019 will continue till March 18 and he is still there participating in the national level exhibition. The festival of Innovation is hosted by National Innovation Foundation,an autonomous body of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.The event was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on March 15.
Every year on this auspicious festival, the innovators from across the country come to exhibit their innovations. Farmers, students, showcase their indigenous skills, traditional knowledge, science, technology etc. The festival of Innovation is organised every year in Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi,but for the first time this year, it is organized at NIF Headquarters in Gujarat.
There are also an award provisions in this festival, given to the best innovators from across the country. The award categories are for National First, National Second, National Third,  Consolation and Appreciation.
Tadar Anang was honoured and  awarded by the President as National First awardee, wherein three from Haryana, Maharastra and Tamil Nadu were also awarded.
Anang thanked NIF India, Department of Science & Technology and State Council for Science & Technology, Arunachal Pradesh who were always  behind him and supported his project all the way.
Tadar Anang is from Nirjuli and has invented a unique pair of goggles that uses ultrasound and infrared sensors to help the visually impaired detect obstacles on their path.
He had also been awarded with Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award for inventing a gadget called Goggle for Blind (G4B).
