ITANAGAR, Aug 3:The Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit (CFNEU), Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, Itanagar, in collaboration with Urban Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Project, Itanagar organized a symposium on the theme “Sustaining Breastfeeding Together” on Thursday at RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar. Officers of various ICDS Projects of Papumpare district attended the programme.
Deputy Director, District ICDS Cell, Dani Yami, stressed on the need for convergence of likeminded departments to intensify awareness, so as to promote and support breastfeeding. She also urged the officers to train the grassroot level worker so that they in turn can disseminate proper information to the targeted beneficiaries.
Giving the objectives and key note address, OIC, CFNEU, T Banarjee, explained in detail the role of the community in supporting breastfeeding.
CDPO, Itanagar, SC Tok gave a lecture on IMS Act, 1992 (amended in 2003) and mentioned that the ICDS functionaries as well as the community are key for its proper implementation. An interactive session was also conducted.
