MALIGAON, Aug 16:Carrying forward the message of Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat, Northeast Frontier Railway has started a massive cleanliness drive called Swachhta Pakhwada from August 16-30 next involving officers, employees from headquarters and all the five divisions i.e. Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangia, Lumding & Tinsukia.

   On the very first day, General Manager, NF Railway, Chahatey Ram,  administered the Swachhata pledge to Railway Officers and employees of headquarters at Maligaon.              

The primary focus will be given to cleanliness of all A1 and A category stations. Accordingly, the stations like Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri Junction, Jogbani, Purnia Junction, Raiganj, Alipurduar Junction, Cooch Behar, Jorhat Town and Tinsukia have been identified besides other stations. Cleanliness of these stations will be monitored by senior railway officers.

Similarly, the cleanliness of several other trains will also be monitored by senior railway officers within this fortnight drive.             

Nukkad natak with the help of NGOs, religious bodies and school children, seminars on sanitation towards upkeep of railway stations, etc will be among the many events marking the fortnight.
