PASIGHAT, Jul 30: Concerned over transfer of good teachers at this stage of the academic session, students of the D. Ering Memorial Government Higher Secondary School, Pasighat have signed a petition seeking retention of Biology and Math teachers at least for the current session.
A total of 80 students of Class XII and 68 of Class XI have met DDSE and DC Pasighat appealing for retention of the teachers. However, matter has now been forwarded to concern higher authorities at Itanagar as district authorities are said to be helpless in the process.
While talking to this scribe today, the student community narrated that, if both the teachers are transferred at this hour, their board results may get hampered as adjustment with new teacher will take time and vice-versa. “We ran from pillar to post, wrote to Principal, DDSE and DC Pasighat but our appeals are not reaching out to the concern authorities. So we sincerely appeal the media to communicate our grievance to the concern authorities at Itanagar including Minister Education.”
As a part of rationalization of teachers in the state, the education department has transferred several teachers from East Siang to other districts. The two teachers in question are being transferred to Roing and Sagalee respectively. However, going by the pleas and appeals of the suffering students, transferring of teacher after commencement of session or during the mid-session is likely to prove a challenge for both teachers and students.
