KOLORIANG, Jul 17: Citing lackadaisical attitude of the government, the All Damin Parsi Parlo Paniasang Students Union (ADPPSU) spearheaded a massive rally demanding better road infrastructure in the region. More than 150 students and concerned citizens participated in the protest, walking an arduous 55 kilometers to draw urgent attention to the deplorable condition of roads that continue to affect daily life and mobility in the area.
The protest, which commenced at 5:00 AM from the General Ground in Parsi-Parlo, made its way to the Office of the Executive Engineer (EE) Rural Works Department (RWD) in Laying-Yangte.
The rally, conducted in a peaceful and disciplined manner, was aimed at pressuring the Rural Development Department (RDW) to take immediate responsibility and act on the long-neglected issue. Protesters raised strong voices for quality roads that could ensure safe, accessible, and reliable travel for the local population.
ADPPSU is demanding expedited construction and black topping of critical road stretches, namely from Kurung Bridge Point to Parsi-Parlo Headquarters, from Parsi-Parlo HQ to Damin HQ via Pagam. Immediate reshuffling of engineering staff who have held positions for over three years in the Patuk RWD Sub-Division, citing inefficiency and lack of accountability.
This unprecedented march not only highlighted the serious infrastructural challenges faced by the region but also stood as a testament to the power of peaceful civic action. It reflected the growing frustration of the youth and general public, while also showcasing their collective resolve to demand their right to basic amenities, stated a member of ADPPSU.
