PASIGHAT, Jan 2: The Adi Students’ Union, Shillong unit has appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST) authority to resume its bus services between Pasighat and Shillong which has remained suspended ever since the outbreak of the COVID pandemic.
In a letter to the Senior Station Superintendent APST Pasighat station on Tuesday last, the AdiSU Shillong unit has appealed for an early resumption of bus services to mitigate the problems of students and patients visiting the Meghalaya capital for educational and medical purposes.  "Since Pasighat is the main city of the Adi belt districts, prolonged discontinuation of bus services has created problems and expenses for students and patients visiting Shillong have increased. As the Itanagar APST service had already started with two buses, AdiSU Shillong has requested the Senior Superintendent APST Pasighat station to resume the discontinued bus services before January 3," President AdiSU Shillong unit Tanu Yuto informed.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Senior Station Superintendent APST Pasighat Kabit Ering said that services will resume by January 2. “We have already prepared the bus service roster for Shillong and direction to this effect has also been issued. But due to strict Covid-19 checking at the Meghalaya border, it is now mandatory for passengers to have RAT testing done,” Ering added.
