ITANAGAR, May 5: The Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union of Maharashtra (APSUM) on Thursday stressed the state government to address its earlier demand for infrastructure improvement of the Arunachal Bhavan in Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
Addressing media persons at the press club here today, APSUM president Tapo Riang informed that the union had received the MoU signed between the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh and Deepshikha Foundation; a Mumbai based non-profitable NGO formed in 2007 to accommodate facilities for cancer patients from Arunachal in Mumbai.
The MoU agreement signed between the two parties is valid for three years only, he added.
He also informed that the foundation will be running the guest house providing room facilities at affordable prices at the facility funded by the Govt of AP.
“It is a huge achievement for the union. The union had staged dharna demanding the same to which the state government had addressed finally," said Riang while thanking the state government for positive response to the demand.
Meanwhile, APSUM   informed that the union has repeatedly submitted representations to the state government regarding infrastructure improvement of the Arunachal Bhavan at Vashi,Navi Mumbai.
When asked the reason for delay in implementing the renovation work, the state government stated that renovation can be done only after vacating the place which is currently occupied by cancer patients from AP, he added.
Therefore, he appealed to the cancer patients to move into the new guest house provided by the Govt of AP, so that renovation of bhavan can be initiated. He also appealed to the state government to issue notification of evacuation of the bhavan.
