KHONSA, Mar 28:  A one-day meeting cum training program on proper implementation of the schemes under the 2^ndinstallment under GPDP by Panchayat department, Tirap was organised at Khonsa on March 22 last. The meeting was attended by ZPC Sontung Bangsia, other ZPMs, DPDO, Member Secretaries, ASCs/ASMs, GPCs/GPMs and other PR staff.

 While welcoming the members present, DPDO T. Aran, emphasized on strict adherence to the laid down guidelines while implementing the schemes. He also stressed on strengthening of Gram Sabha for proper execution and monitoring of the schemes. A host of other PRI leaders also spoke on the occasion and shared their thoughts.

 The ZPC spoke about the need for all PRI leaders to work unitedly for the development of villages. She lauded Chief Minister Pema Khandu for his proactive steps to empower the PR department by initiating effort for the early implementation of Chief Minister’s Adarsh Gramin Yojna schemes in the state very soon. She said such initiative by the state government promises a vibrant democracy and decentralization of democratic power.

The ZPC, however, expressed deep regret over the exclusion of 31 segment of Tirap out of 56 GP segments from the PMAY scheme due to the last Socio-Economic census. Such exclusion, she lamented would deprive the poor public of Tirap district who are already reeling under acute poverty and slow pace of development due to various other reasons. The ZPC, therefore, exhorted all PRI leaders the need to highlight this exclusion before their respective elected representatives and the state govt. in general.
