Yingkiong, Jun 21: Health Minister Alo Libang appreciated the efforts of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Karmayogis of Project Brahmank for completion of rehabilitation work for traffic movement during the re-opening  ceremony of the Byorung Bridge on the Yingkiong- Moying road in Upper Siang District today.
Deputy Commissioner Upper Siang, Hage Lailang, SP Jummar Basar, DFO A.Boli and DDMO Beru Dulom accompanied the minister.
Cdr A K Gupta briefed about the repair work carried out to dignitaries  and other officials present. Further, the District Administration was also requested for monitoring traffic and restriction on movement of oversized and overweight vehicles above restored load classification of 18 Ton.
 The Byorung Bridge also known as Gandhi Bridge situated on Yingkiong-Moying road was handed over to the BRO in June 2021 from Government of Arunachal Pradesh. It is a lifeline connecting  entire Tuting Sub-Division up to the last Indian village, Gelling. In June 2022, defect started to develop and in order to mitigate the distress, steps were taken on priority. The entire rectification work was successfully completed within stipulated time of 90 days as per the contract by the Contractor M/S Jainuddin. In addition, seismic arrestors were also installed for added safety. Light vehicle movement started from June 12 and further heavy vehicles up to load capacity of 18T have been allowed to ply from June 18. (DIPRO)
