Itanagar, Dec 20: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), Itanagar organized a one-day State Level Seminar on ‘Empowering Women: Combating Substance Abuse in Northeast India’ sponsored by the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi at Assembly Hall, Higher Secondary School, Sagalee, today.
Kago T Yasung, Member, APSCW in her keynote address highlighted the substance abuse in the state and India as a whole.
Techi Serbang, ZPM, Sagalee while expressing his appreciation to the Commission said that such awareness programme should be organized in all districts and encouraged the participants to take benefit of the seminar. 
Yame Higio, ADC, Sagalee in her address asked the students not to do drugs or use tobacco and guthka items. She asked them to focus on their studies. She also advised the students to listen the teaching of resource persons and Members of APSCW carefully.
Maya Pulu, Member APSCW elaborated on substance abuse and its impact on health, family and society. 
Dr. Techi Jama, MO (Ayush), Sagalee as a resource person elaborated on mental health and its impact on career, family and society.
Dr. Subham Singh, TRIHMS, Naharlagun as a resource person spoke on life skill and shared education on drugs.
Nabam Yahi Tad, Vice Chairperson APSCW spoke on impact of substance abuse in the state. While motivating the students not to indulge in drugs she urged them to set good example in the society as they are the future of Sagalee. She further requested the gaon burah to take major action towards the use of weeds and drugs in the area.  
The programme was attended by Ngurang Nama, Member, APSCW, staff and more than 150 participants including principal, teachers and students.
