BANA, Oct 22: Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs Alo Libang today visited the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) here in East Kameng and interacted with the teachers and staff.

“Besides being the Health Minister I am also the Minister for SJETA and this school is being funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and SEJTA. It is for this reason I have personally visited the school to get the on-ground report of its functioning and performance,” Libang stated. While appreciating the school management for successfully running the school, the Minister informed that the concerned Union Ministry has approved four more such schools in Arunachal Pradesh. “With the success of this EMRS, the state government is pursuing a plan to create more such schools in the line of model schools in the state,” he informed.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal-EMRS Bana, Amudhavalli informed about the school and its establishment in 2009 under a central government scheme and the role of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) trust in its management. The Principal further informed that as of now the school has only 117 students in classes IX and X although it is meant for imparting secondary education for classes VI-X.
