ITANAGAR,  Sep 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Teachers' Association and its units will hold a sit-in silent protest on Friday at their respective colleges in solidarity with the traumatised teachers of Donyi Polo Government College, Kamki, who were subjected to acts of hooliganism by few students.
The APTA in the strongest sense condemned the 'terrorising act' staged by few students of Donyi Polo Government College, Kamki on the night of September 19 last led by Sokli Bogo, a BA V Semester student after he lost the college's students' union election for the post of general secretary.
"The incident of hooliganism, gherao and life threatening acts to college teachers and their families has shocked APCTA," said Associate Professor Narmi Darang, President of APCTA. He further added that such cheap acts dishearten and demoralise the teaching community who give their lives to teach, change the lives of their students and undertake all unthankful odd works.
Associate Professor Tumbom Riba, General Secretary of APCTA while condemning the incident said that she was shocked and could not believe such sickening and hideous turn of events faced by teachers who are dedicated to the future of their students.
The APCTA stands in solidarity with the teachers of Donyi Polo Government College, Kamki in their Pen-down-strike from September 21 and also appeals the concerned authorities to fulfill the demands of justice and reprimands placed by them, it said in a statement.
