ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Covid situation in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday was comparatively better unlike the previous days of the ongoing week with a single casualty and recoveries surpassing fresh cases.
Casualties
The lone casualty was of an 85-yr old female Covid patient from the ICC who expired today at DCH Chimpu due to ARDS and Covid pneumonia. She was suffering from hypertension and diabetes and was not vaccinated with any of the doses. The state’s Covid casualty count is now 225 after this death.
Recoveries, New Cases, Sample Collection
A total of 335 new cases (asymptomatic 190; symptomatic 145) were recorded on the day with 112 from the ICC (positivity rate 12 %). Lower Subansiri (34), Papum Pare (26), East Siang (18), Lohit (14) and Tawang and West Kameng (13 each) were the next districts in terms of descending order of new infections. West Siang has recorded further improvement in its Covid situation with 7 new cases and positivity rate dipping to 4%.
Of the total of 383 new recoveries that took the state’s overall tally to 43000, the first 5 districts were Papum Pare (105), Lohit (49), Lower Subansiri (33), East Siang (30) and Upper Subansiri (24). 6034 samples were collected from across the state on the day, highest from the ICC (948). The total number of Covid active patients in the state at the end of the day stood at 4252.    
Vaccination
In the '18 years and above' age category, 2343 beneficiaries took  their 1st jabs (63% coverage so far) and 2204 their 2nd  jabs (16 % coverage).   
Occupancy status
As of July 29 (8 pm), at DCH Chimpu it was 53, at SQF Lekhi 26, 2 at DCHC Midpu, 10 at DCH Pasighat and 23 at DCHC.  
Containment Zones
Currently there are a total of 63 containment zones across the state in 14 districts with highest in the ICC (20; 366 positive cases). The total number of positive cases in all these containment zones is 1109.
