ITANAGAR, Apr 3:  In recognition of their exceptional dedication and service, the Arunachal Pradesh Police organised a felicitation ceremony to honour officers who have played a crucial role in maintaining law and order, with a special focus on their contributions to the war against drugs. The event was graced by the  Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, who praised the tireless efforts of police personnel in ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
During the ceremony, officers who made significant contributions in two major cases—the Majibur Rahman Case and the Narcotics Encounter Case—were honored for their exemplary performance. Their relentless efforts have been instrumental in strengthening the fight against drug-related crimes and upholding the rule of law in the state.
Among those recognized for their role in the Majibur Rahman Case were Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar; Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, OC PS Itanagar; Inspector Sushant Saurabh Jha; SI R.K. Jha; Constable Sandeep Yadav; and Constable Sanu Raj T. Their unwavering commitment and professionalism played a vital role in ensuring justice in this case.
In the Narcotics Encounter Case, the commendable efforts of Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar; U Vibu Krishna, IPS; Vivek Maurya, IPS; Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, OC PS Itanagar; Inspector Sushant Saurabh Jha; Inspector Rina Sonam; SI Tamo Bakhang; ASI Manish; HC Bamin Tani; Constable C Niling; Constable Boru Pali; Constable Jeni Wangpan; and Constable Jayanta Baruah were recognized. Their dedication and prompt action were instrumental in effectively tackling this critical case and curbing drug-related offenses.
The war against drugs has been a top priority for the Arunachal Pradesh Police, with Operation Dawn, launched in November 8, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the fight against narcotics. Since its launch, the operation has led to 354 cases registered, 534 individuals arrested,  9,557 kilograms of narcotic substances seized, with an estimated market value of ` 38 crores .
Since 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Police’s sustained efforts against drug-related crimes have resulted in 1,452 cases filed, 2,619 individuals arrested, 18,600 kilograms of psychotropic substances seized, worth an estimated ` 75 crores. 56,654.69 acres of illicit opium poppy plantations destroyed and 1,723.271 acres of cannabis cultivation eradicated,.
The ceremony also acknowledged personnel from neighbouring districts for their remarkable contributions in the war against drugs and in counter-insurgency operations against underground (UG) elements. Their relentless efforts in combating organized crime and ensuring peace in the region reflect the Arunachal Pradesh Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state, stated the police in a press statement.
