ITANAGAR, Jan 8: A three-day State level training on 80th Round National Sample Survey (NSS) began on Wednesday in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Itanagar. The topic for the survey during January to December, this year is Social Consumption on Health and Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom.
While welcoming Nishant Gaurav and Lalit Kr.Prasad, the Resource Person deputed from the NSO RO Office, Itanagar and participants from various Districts, M.D.Naksang, DDES outlined the main objective of the training session and urged the participants to take full advantage of the training on CAPI mode and to clear all doubts on the spot from the expert Resource Persons of the Ministry.
Director, Economics & Statistics, Bebing Megu while addressing the participants from all districts urged upon the field officials to be sincere and dedicated to capture accurate data on field while canvassing the survey. The Director also reiterated on the importance of collection of quality data and emphasised the timeline of the Survey to be adhered.  "Accurate data is the pillar of accurate statistics; accurate statistics is the pillar of right planning and right planning is the pillar of right development. So, collection of accurate data at field level is the base to achieve the right socio-economic development,” he said.
From this round onwards, both the Central & State samples shall be captured on Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) mode in Tablets throughout the state. The CAPI mode is a new initiative adopted by NSO for zero paper use and transmission of data online in a shortest time. The duration of 80th Round will be for one year divided into four sub rounds, commencing from January to December 2025 for Survey on Social Consumption on Health. However, Comprehensive Modular Survey on Telecom (CMS-T) shall be canvass in 1st Sub- round (January to March) only. Almost seventy statistical field personnel from all the districts are attending the training programme.
