ITANAGAR, Aug 30:  The All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association organized the much-awaited State Level Khelo India Wushu Women's League/Ranking (Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior) at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy Complex, Chimpu on August 29 last. The Khelo India Women’s league has been renamed as ASMITA “Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action” by Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs recently. The league witnessed a total of 14 districts participating in an effort to promote women's involvement in the sport.
The league kicked off with a grand opening ceremony where the Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Development & Financial Corporation Ltd (APIDFCL), Walong Rajkumar, graced the event as the Chief Guest. and Gyamar Taz, Corporator Ward No. 6 IMC, was also present as the Guest of Honour. The duo appreciated the initiative and encouraged the female athletes to give their best during the league.
The competitions were held in three categories, namely Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior, for both Taolu and Sanda events. The gold medalists are directly qualified for Zonal Khelo India Wushu Women's League to be held at Kolkata in November.  The league aimed to showcase the skills and talent of young female athletes of Arunachal Pradesh and provide them with a platform to excel in the sport.
The closing cum medal ceremony was attended by Gumnya Karbak, Director, Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA), and Gora Talang, Corporator Ward No. 3, IMC.
The Khelo India Women's League is an important step towards promoting gender equality in the field of sports. By providing a platform exclusively for women athletes, the league aimed to encourage their participation and enhance their skills in Wushu. The Khelo India  programme was introduced  in the year 2017-18 to revive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level by  building a strong framework  for all sports played in our country and establish India as a great sporting nation.
The All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association (AAPWA) under the leadership of Tach Tadar, President, AAPWA expressed its gratitude to the esteemed guests, participants, technical committee, organizing committee, executive members & spectators for making the league a grand success. The association also thanked Director Sports, Principal, Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy and Assistant Director, National Centre of Excellence (NCOE), SAI for their tireless support.
