Itanagar, Nov 18: The State Election Commission organised a consultative meeting with all political parties where representatives of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) and Arunachal Democratic Party (ADP) were present. Taru Talo, Secretary, State Election Commission briefed about the need of such meeting and requested to co-operate with the election machineries in order to have a peaceful election of local bodies across the State, followed by a detailed presentation on the guidelines for the political parties and contesting candidates during the ensuing Panchayat and Municipal election 2025 by Shri Tamune Miso, Addl. Secretary-Cum-Nodal Officer (MCC).
In his concluding remarks, State Election Commissioner, Shri Rinchin Tashi reminded all representatives of various political parties that they are the central pillar of any democratic election process and therefore their roles are vital, ranging from the selection of candidates to ultimate constitution of Gram Panchayats and Zilla Parishads in the State through electoral process as prescribed statutorily. Hence, the State Election Commission under the relevant provision of the Acts issues sets of norms and guidelines to regulate all the stake holders including political parties, contesting candidates, electors through 'Model Code of Conduct' which is required to be adhered strictly during the entire election process. He requested all political parties to be aware and well  acquaintetd with all such Model Code of Conduct, procedures, instructions and guidelines issued by State Election Commission from time to time.
Further, he appealed to the political parties to train their functionaries particularly Polling Agents and Counting Agents about their roles and responsibilities before they are deployed to the polling stations so as to facilitate smooth conduct of polls at their respective stations. Copies of Dos and Don'ts for guiding Contesting Candidates, Election Agents, Polling Agents and Counting Agents were provided to all political parties for their benefit. At the end, State Election Commissioner fervently appealed all political parties for their sincere co-operation with the election machineries in making the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal Election 2025, a very successful and peaceful one.
