ITANAGAR, Dec 20: Two days Workshop on Climate Change Vulnerability, & Risk assessment and Climate Action Plan was organised by State Climate Change Cell, Deptt.of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, at PCCF Office Itanagar.
The objective of the workshop is to develop capacity building on vulnerability assessment, identify risk factors and bringing about climate vulnerability profile in each of the sectors based on the common framework tools derived from IPCC, 2014 framework. It also focussed on bringing out implementation action plan based on Climate Resilient Pakke Declaration made by the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh during its Cabinet Meeting on November, 13 held at Pakke Tiger Reserve apart from giving Vulnerability Risk Assessment training to senior officers from various line departments as well as training of trainers.
The workshop was attended by Kumsi Sidisow, MLA & Advisor to Minister (Environment, Forests & Climate Change) as chief guest for the inaugural session. Welcome address was given by Tapu Gapak, IFS, CF (Planning & FDA) and vote of thanks for inaugural session was given by D.Dohu Robin, Director Environment & Climate Change. Hosted by the State Climate Cell under National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) , Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt.of India, the workshop received nominations from as many as 18 line departments.
The workshop saw participation of senior Scientist, Professors/Associate Professors from various research and academic institutions viz. Botanical Survey of India, Zoological Survey of India, G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, State Forest Research Institute, North East Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Arunachal University of Studies Namsai, Himalayan University, Dera Natung Government College.
The Resource Persons were eminent climate expert of the country viz Prof.N H Ravindranath, IISC Bengaluru, Dr.Indu Murthy, CSTEP Bengaluru, Professor Anamika Barua ,IIT Guwahati, Dr. Shyamshree Das Gupta, Associate Professor IIT Mandi.
