BOMDILA, Jul 16: In an effort to raise awareness among students about plastic wastes and it's re-use and recycling, a batch of state civil service officers organised an
Inter-School Plastic Project & Seminar competition themed “Trash to Treasure – Garden of Waste”.  
The district level science seminar was inaugurated by the ADC (HQ) Sang Khandu at Buddha Peace Park, Bomdila today. The seminar was organized by the Project 37- a crowdfunding initiative by Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) officers of 2016 batch.
The ADC congratulated the APCS officers of 2016 batch for the noble work and taking part in the development of the state and society.
Speaking on the programme, Circle Officer Tenzin Yangchen, who organised the program briefed about the seminar, its importance and its aspects. She said the project will instill a sense of ownership, team building, decision making among students and also develop mentorship among the teachers of government schools. 
Nine government school of West Kameng participated in the project and used more than 5400 plastic bottles to create different viable and useful items in their school using the waste bottles.
The GHSS Bomdila which won the first prize constructed a small retention wall in their school premises which was prone to landslides.
For the first time ever, the winner of the project who are students of government school will be sent on educational tour to Guwahati. 
Reiterating her believe that education is most important for development of a person, Tenzin Yangchen said that  the tour will give the exposure to government school students which is important today for students to learn and grow.
