ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Amid protests in various parts of the country by farmers and by the opposition in parliament over the recently passed Farm Bills, State BJP while extending its support to the new laws termed them as “historic.”
Addressing the reporters here at Press Club today, former Minister-cum-Spokesperson of State BJP Mohesh Chai stated that the Farm Bills brought by the NDA government are “historic and most beneficial for the farming community and the opposition parties are only spreading misunderstanding among farmers.”
While stating that the process of procurement based on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system shall be continued, Chai asserted the Bills are meant to protect the interests of farmers. “The burden of tax is going to be reduced on farm produce which will make it more profitable for farmers. Moreover, it will reduce black marketing and involvement of middlemen at APMCs (Mandis) and the farmers would get the financial benefit directly,” he said.
Chai also informed that to encourage the state’s farmers, the BJP-led state government has ensured huge budgetary support for agriculture and allied sectors. “There are challenges in our state but the state government is doing its best for the farmers and various beneficial schemes such as Chief Minister Krishi Samuh Yojana- Farmers Producers Organization, Chief Ministera Tea and Rubber scheme, subsidy for procurement of tractor and other machinery are being provided  to the farmers,” the BJP Spokesperson elaborated.
The two bills i.e. the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill 2020 have been termed by the Central government as “needed for 21st century India” that would help the farmers in doubling their income.
