ITANAGAR, Sep 14:With the objective of revising and fixing new minimum wages for labourers and casual workers of the state, the State Advisory Board held a meeting on Wednesday.
Participating in the discussions the Chairman, Kage Mara appealed the board members for astuteness before enhancing and fixing the minimum amount of wages private for labourers as well as government contingency casual workers for the betterment of all concerned.
Earlier while informing and explaining the purpose and objective of the meeting, Labour Commissioner, Ojing Darung said minimum wages is a borderline and any person or employer paying wages to the labourers or employees below the borderline amount, if found guilty is punishable under the Wages Act.
All the Advisory Board members representing work departments, forests, AAPLU, AAPFWU, INTUC, AAPWU etc enthusiastically participated in the threadbare discussion for revision of minimum wages and recommended the same to the state government for final approval.
