MAHADEVPUR, Nov 6: The much-anticipated 16th Bodousa Cup, a premier national-level football tournament organized by Bodousa Football Club is set to begin on November 11.
This prestigious invitational event will see teams from across the country compete at three venues: the Government Higher Secondary School Playground in Mahadevpur, Namsai, as well as Digboi and Duliajan in Assam.
This year’s tournament will host 12 teams from five different states, following a league-cum-knockout format. The teams are divided into four groups of three, setting the stage for intense competition. Representing Assam are seven teams, joined by two from Arunachal Pradesh, and one each from Mizoram, Manipur, and West Bengal. This diverse mix is expected to bring a high level of excitement and showcase talent from various regions, says Arunjyoti Moran, President of Bodousa Football Club.
The Bodousa Cup champions will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, while the runner-up will take home Rs 2 lakh along with a trophy.
The Bodousa Cup’s significance as a platform for young talent and as a symbol of unity through sports. With the tournament gaining national attention, local fans and supporters are gearing up to witness some thrilling matches in the upcoming days, he added.
