ITANAGAR, Dec 10: The Department of Sports will frame new guidelines for admission to the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) from the coming academic session 2019-20. This decision was taken during the recent coordination meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Dr. Mohesh Chai. The decision was taken in order to ascertain transparency in selection process so that quality and aspiring candidates get the right platform.
In its press communiqué, the department also informed that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh will give recognition to SLSA as a separate entity for participation in state level sports competitions organized by various state Sports Associations & AP School Games. Necessary instructions shall be passed on to Sports Authority of Arunachal, Arunachal Olympic Association & Directorate of Secondary Education, added the statement.
While concerned about the shortage of manpower, the members also stressed on creation of post of PGT & TGT, Hostel Warden, Security guard, MTS (grounds man, Sweeper) as the SLSA has been upgraded from Secondary to Higher Secondary level. The members also resolved for immediate functioning of Infirmary of the Institute by posting required Para medical staff and a Medical Officer with Physiotherapist.
Meanwhile, medal winners of 17th Junior National Wushu Championship 2018 held recently at Namakkal, Tamil Nadu were also felicitated.
