Itanagar, May 25: In a landmark achievement, eight students—five girls and three boys—from the remote tribal regions of Sarli and Daporijo, Arunachal Pradesh, have successfully cleared the written entrance examination for Sainik Schools and the New Sainik School. This unprecedented milestone has been made possible through the concerted efforts of the Indian Army's Spear Corps.
Launched under the aegis of the Spearhead Division, the Indian Army’s eight-month intensive coaching program enrolled 33 students from border villages. The initiative included structured academic coaching, mentoring, provision of essential study materials, and logistical support for the conduct of the examination, which was held in Itanagar on April 5. The program culminated with a State Integration Tour from April 4 to 10, where students visited Sainik School Siang and interacted with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd).
This remarkable success not only reflects the untapped potential in the region but also underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to national integration, youth empowerment, and educational equity in border areas. The next phase involves guided e-counseling sessions to aid in their final selection process.
"I am thankful to the Indian Army for sponsoring Sainik School Coaching Classes for me and many of my friends. I was thrilled to know that I had qualified in the written test and am hopeful of clearing the e-counseling to join the prestigious Sainik School. It would be a dream come true for me", said one of the students from Sarli, Miss Milli Yabi.
This initiative will serve as a beacon of inspiration for many other students in border and tribal areas. The Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to continue these coaching programs annually, reinforcing its role not just as a protector of the nation but as a facilitator of its youth’s future.
