PASIGHAT, Nov 9: Education Minister PD Sona, while declaring the Annual 57th College Day celebrations of Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat open stressed on holistic education beyond classroom teaching and academics in moulding students and future generation of the state and the nation. Sona reiterated on the objectives of the NEP 2020 in holistic development of students and channelising their potential in the right direction adding that “ youth is the power house of the country”.
Sona along with Transport Minister Ojing Tasing lit the Olympic torch to mark the celebrations with the Olympic torch carried by Albena Doley & Karmin Tekseng.
Sona also lauded the pioneering milestones achieved by team JNC in taking forward the higher education sector to nurture thousands of young minds from different corners of the state since its establishment embodying the true spirit of Pan-Arunachal.
The Guest of Honour Minister for Transport , RD and Cooperation, Ojing Tasing, an alumnus of JNC said that it delights him to see the students excelling in various fields and called for innovation and futuristic outlook in their academic pursuits. He spoke on the immense contribution of JNC in human resource development of the state and urged for the legacy to be carry forward. Tasing also assured all possible support for easing the transportation issues faced by the students.
Earlier Principal, JNC, Dr. Tasi Taloh, presented the growth of the pioneer college set up in 1964 to become one of the most respected institutions in the state, noted for its academic rigour, cultural diversity and dedication to shaping the leaders of tomorrow. At present JNC has 78 faculty members imparting quality education to around 5000 students with 14 UG departments in Arts, Science & Commerce and four PG departments and producing maximum university toppers. Taloh also highlighted the dedicated contributions of the faculty members of JNC in the academic excellence, research publications and community service. DIPRO
