PASIGHAT, Sep 22:  While strongly opposing the recommendation of Group of Ministers (GoM) for approval of functional Lower Siang District with posting of DC and SP at Likabali without proper and final demarcation of boundary between East Siang and Lower Siang District, the Adi Baane Kebang Youth with Adi Students’ Union and others organized a massive Solidarity Rally here on Thursday.

The ABK’s Youth Wing submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister through DC, Pasighat regarding creation of Lower Siang District. As per ABKYW General Secretary Er. Toi Modi’s statement, the controversial creation of Lower Siang District is being done likely because of pressure from community who have no stake at all in this particular area. The memorandum reads: “We will defend the interest, rights and aspiration of Adi people under any circumstances”, “We completely reject the approval of functional district without final demarcation of boundary”, “We completely reject the recommendation of GoM”, and “We will accept the creation of Lower Siang District if and only if the demand of Adi Baane Kebang is implemented in letter and spirit”.

The solidarity rally was also organized at Tezu, Yingkiong and other places and ABKYW with AdiSU has made it clear to the state government that, they are ready to go to any extent to defend the interest of ABK.  They have also cautioned that their aspiration should be viewed seriously to avert further complications.
